EARL G. SINGER
Earl Singer is publisher of WineEvents-Calendar.com, a web publication. WE-C provides a world-wide calendar of wine events, articles regarding wine and tasting notes on wines offered at these events.
Earl created the new internet publication after twenty-five years of producing (together with Charles Olken) one of the leading private wine review publications, Connoisseur's Guide to California Wine, with subscribers in every U.S. state and some 20 countries.
During his professional career Earl has participated in more than three thousand tastings and wine competitions. This includes judging at competitions in New York, Washington DC and Texas, as well as major judgings held in Washington, Oregon, Nevada and California. He enjoys the distinction of being one of the first judges to take and pass the examination that tests the qualifications and competence of wine judges. Earl has also been a guest judge on wine evaluation panels of various wine associations in Italy.
Born in Alameda, CA, Earl holds a Bachelors Degree with a major in Philosophy from San Jose State University and a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley. His interest in wine was initially spurred through close friends and relatives in the fine restaurant business, and he has been professionally reviewing and writing about wine since the early seventies.
Along with his Connoisseurs' Guide partner Charles Olken and Decanter writer Norman Roby, Earl also created a vest pocket publication for Alfred Knopf, Inc, entitled “Connoisseur's Handbook to California Wine.” In its two initial editions, and numerous reprints, the book sold over a quarter million copies.
