Fox Run Vineyards: winery information
Winemaker: Peter Bell
Born and raised in Canada, Bell began his winemaking career in Australia, where he earned a degree in enology at Charles Sturt University in New South Wales, and where he also worked in the school’s own commercial winery. Upon graduation he became assistant winemaker at Hunter’s Wines in New Zealand, producing Chardonnay, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Leaving New Zealand, he turned down offers from Portugal and British Columbia in favor of the natural beauty and outstanding potential of the Finger Lakes. For five years he was senior winemaker at Dr. Konstantin Frank’s Vinifera Wine Cellars on Keuka Lake, where he further cemented that winery’s reputation as one of the leading producers in America. During his busy tenure at Fox Run, Peter has also found time to advise numerous wineries in the northeast, speak at industry conferences throughout North America, and consult in many countries. He has been a regular guest lecturer at Cornell University and Rochester Institute of Technology, and was a visiting fellow at the University of Adelaide in 2004.
