Winemaker: Mark Friszolowski

Mark Friszolowski moved from his native Long Island, NY, and post as winemaker at Pindar, to help Childress start his winery in the recently named Yadkin Valley AVA in 2003. Mark has helped re-establish the wine industry in North Carolina through positions as president of the North Carolina Winegrower's Association and board member of the NC Wine and Grape Council. Mark’s World-wide experience includes stints as consultant to wineries in the US and Soviet Georgia, barrel cooperages in South Africa to Australia, and work with oversees importers and producers from Italy, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Chile, Argentina and New Zealand. Since arriving at Childress, his wines have won more than 150 gold medals in the first two years of operation.
