Winterhawk Wines
2008 Pinot Noir(Suisun Valley)
The very lower reaches of Suisun Valley bear very similar temperature ranges to the western located Carneros through Jamieson Canyon. Pinot Noir loves these cool climate regions and rewards the results.
Winterhawk winemakers have dealt with the realities of the 2008 Northern California summer with a wine that expresses its location and has integrated the impacts of a heavy fire season throughout the region. Short term aging has greatly benefited integration of seasonal terrior and produced a pleasing Pinot.
True to form light Pinot Noir color, tinged by brackish notes, brings a toasty oak oriented nose forward. Underlying ripe red cherry, very limited tannin and solid acidity. The finish is relatively short, yet overall the wine is pleasing to fans of Pinot Noir
This is clearly a one time event wine, heavily impacted by natural events of 2008. The under lying flavors and acidity are expressive of lower Suisun Valley and future vintages will move back to norm.
