Christine Andrew Vineyards
2006 Petite Sirah(Lodi)
Grown on the Kautz Family vineyards, situated in the Mokelumne River - Lodi sub appellation this wine comes from the heart of the classic Zinfandel and Petite Sirah vineyards of the region. There are more moderating 'Delta' breezes in this region with well drained alluvial sandy loam soils. In tandum this presents great potential for Petite Sirah.
This recent vintage exhibits youthful reduction which will, without doubt, bloom into something quite wonderful in a few years time. Even now there is rich lime marmelade in the nose that contrasts playfully with intense white pepper in the mouth, which also contains white peach and honeysuckle, with plush, round, sweet tannins and a lively energy.
This wine also has wonderfully restrained alcohol at just 13.5%. Pairings with hearty beef dishes, wild game or BBQ Pork are recommended; but on a cold rainy winter night ain't much better.
