Tamber Bey Vineyards: winery information
Winemaker: Thomas Brown
Thomas Brown was born in Sumter, South Carolina, in 1972, a marginal vintage for wine, but a great year for humans. He developed an interest in wine while majoring in english and economics at the University of Virginia. Later, he expanded his knowledge of wines from all of the world’s great regions while working at All Seasons Wine Shop in Calistoga, located at the northern end of the Napa Valley. He worked the 1997 harvest for Kent Rasmussen before becoming an assistant winemaker for Ehren Jordan, winemaker at Turley Wine Cellars and consultant to a number of other high-profile California wineries. In 2000, Ehren signed an exclusive winemaking agreement with Turley and subsequently handed his clients to Thomas. Today, Thomas consults for Outpost, Chiarello, Shrader, Casa Piena, in addition to his own Pinot Noir project "Rivers Marie". With the partnership with Barry and the Tamber Bey Yountville and Oakville vineyards, Thomas has created some of the most distinctive and inspired wines to come from the region.

The Deux Chevaux Vineyard, formerly named the Two Rivers Vineyard, is a 60-acre parcel situated east of the town of Yountville and in the Yountville appellation. There are two waterways on either side of the vineyard, one being the Napa River. This vineyard is planted with Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Chardonnay. This vineyard is influenced to a greater degree by the San Francisco Bay and the early morning fog and late afternoon winds that it generates.
