Jalama Vineyard: winery information
Winemaker: Mark Cargasacchi
Jalama Vineyard's winemaker Mark Cargasacchi grows wine grapes on his family ranch off Jalama Road, south of Lompoc in the heart of Santa Barbara County. This is ultra-premium, cool-climate Pinot Noir wine country. Rolling hills studded with oak trees and a good ocean breeze greet you as you travel up the winding road right past the Cargasacchi vineyards on your way to the beach. Mark's family have been ranchers and farmers in this area for generations. The current generation's expansion into winemaking was a natural progression of the ranch based on the topography and climate of the area. Both Mark and his two siblings enjoy winemaking as well tending the black Angus cattle that are famous in this area of California. With a degree in Eonology, Mark not only designs, plants, and maintains his own vineyards he also is a consultant for other wineries in the area. Mark's commitment to high quality, handmade wines shows in all his vintages.
