Wasted Grape
2011 Viognier(Suisun Valley)
Wasted Grape seeks out grapes that might ultimately wasted, either by not leaving the vineyard or cellar. Winemaker Jake Stuessy and partner Don VanWie have found a little niche and their first white wines are delightful.
2011 brought Viognier to focus from Suisun Valley. Fermented using three different yeast strains, held on the skins for 8 hours and allowed 35-40% melolactic secondary fermentation, stone fruits abound. Apricot and Peach along with nuances of dried flower petals and white mint roll over the palate. Bright acidity leads to a sense of lime and minerality on the long finish. This wine is live and electric.
