Fieldbrook Winery

2010 Foggy Bay Fusion, Stargazer Vineyard
(Willow Creek)

Willow Creek is the northern most AVA in California with the Trinity River rushing down the middle. Being 25 miles inland from the cold Pacific, heat degree days are actually comparable to Napa, due to multiple mountain ridges that separate this valley. Warm climate grapes such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon can easily ripen in this region.

Foggy Bay Fusion comes from the Stargazer Vineyard in Willow Creek and is primarily Merlot yet with Cabernet Sauvignon blended in, defining the concept of Fusion. The attributes of Willow Creek allow for ripening rather than rapid sugar accumulation, an attribute these days.

Intense cherry aromas are supplemented by jasmine, green tea, sandalwood and wet stone. A nicely made tannin structure is supported by sweet fruit and happily low alcohol.

Food pairings will be greatly benefitted by the low alcohol and bright fresh nature of Foggy Bay Fusion.
