(source: TTB) The Texoma Appellation Committee, in Denison, Texas, petitioned TTB to establish the ``Texoma'' viticultural area in north-central Texas. Located along the Texas-Oklahoma Stateline on the south side of Lake Texoma and the Red River, the proposed area covers approximately 3,650 square miles, or about 2.3 million acres, in Montague, Cooke, Grayson, and Fannin Counties. The proposed viticultural area contains four wineries and a number of small vineyards with approximately 55 acres planted to vines. Both native Texas grape varieties and Vitis vinifera varieties thrive in the proposed area.
