Moon Mountain District Sonoma Valley lies entirely within the Sonoma Valley AVA and Sonoma County appellation. It is a mountain oriented AVA comprised of 17,633 acres set above the Sonoma Valley in southern Sonoma County.
At approval in 2013 there are 1,500 acres planted in the AVA which graces the western slopes of the Mayacamas Range separating Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. Elevations of the mountainous AVA range from 400 feet to 2,200 feet.

Christian Borcher of Repris Wines was instramental in filing and driving the AVA petition to approval. 11 bonded wineries and 40 vineyards existed at approval.

Current Feature

In the southern Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and Georgia vineyards are small and few, yet the establishment of the Upper Hiwassee Highlands could bring much more.  [>] continue
