Winzerwald Winery |
We are America’s only German and Swiss-style winery. Winzerwald is German for “vintners of the forest.” A nutcracker adorns the label signifying the German ancestry and Swiss heritage of the area and the location in the Hoosier National Forest. Our special wines include German favorites such as Mai Wine (May Wine), Gluhwein (spiced wine), our version of Liebfraumilch, which we call Lieblich (meaning “delightfully sweet”), Lemberger, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer. A limited edition wine called Heirloom is made from grapes that family lore says were brought to the US by the owner’s ancestors when they emigrated from Germany. Experts in the field of viticulture have been unable, thus far, to identify the grape variety. Join us for this one-of-a-kind wine made from our family’s German mystery grape. The winery includes a tasting room, gift shop, outdoor wine garden, vineyard and production area.
