Farfelu, Virginia’s first winery, is just 60 minutes west of DC in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills. Farfelu, pronounced "far-fu-loo", means 'eccentric' in old French, which is what people thought we were when we planted grapes in the middle of apple country in 1967. We have been producing premium, honest wines of distinction from our 1860s dairy barn ever since.
We invite you to escape to Farfelu to experience a piece of history at one of Virginia’s most scenic wineries. More than just a winery, our 86-acre estate offers a river hiking trail, horseshoes, bocce ball, volleyball, picnic facilities and some of the friendliest hospitality this side of the Blue Ridge. Our award winning wines include Chardonnay, Viogner, Cabernet Franc and a Bordeaux-styled red called 'Muse'.

Visiting the Winery
From Washington D.C., take US-66 west. Exit at the second Marshall exit (exit 27). Turn left at the top of the exit ramp, crossing over the highway. Take the first right onto Route-647/Crest Hill Road, travel 12 miles. Turn left into Farfelu's entrance.
