Mission Hill Winery
2004 S.L.C. Chardonnay(Okanagan Valley)
Light gold in hue, this wine begins with rich and inviting aromas of citrus and apples. On the palate, it presents a superb array of fruit flavours, including tangerine and mango, with the spice of good French oak enhancing the fruit.
Typical of Mission Hill’s top tier S.L.C. bottlings, this wine was fermented and aged in French oak. The oak treatment is nicely conservative, so that the wood does not overwhelm the delicate fruit flavours. The wine has good weight on the palate but has the acidity and the minerality that adds up to a crisply dry finish – even an austere finish. This wine is drinking well now but has the structure to cellar well. 88 points.
