Colibri Ridge Winery and Vineyard
2006 Barbera(El Dorado)
Barbera is quickly taking a front seat in the Sierra Foothills, especially in El Dorado and Amador Counties and the 2006 Barbera of Colibri Ridge Winery is no exception.
Grown at the 2,300 foot level at J&J Vineyard in decomposed granitic soils, it truly reflects this region. Great depth of color for Barbera is matched with classic aromatics and a touch of oak on the nose.
A pleasing bright mouth feel with balanced acidity to light tannins ends with a residual spice that seems so consistent with El Dorado wines. A touch of minerality dances accross the palate leading to cherry, earth and plum in a long lingering finish.
Winemaker John Alexander suggests this pairs well with chicken, pork, grilled sausage or just about any pasta in red sauce of choice.
