Little Black Dress Vineyards
2005 Chardonnay(California)
Okay. I am really confused. First they tell me I will like sweet pink wine, or maybe off-dry, really fruity Riesling. Recently the brain trust advised me to have “light” wine. Now I am supposed to like a wine named after a part of my wardrobe, that every other woman will like too, and that will make me feel sexy?
Whoa. Good thing this wine came along. Otherwise I’d still be drinking the Jack Daniels and Herrudura Tequila that this company, Brown Forman, makes their fortunes on. Did those focus groups consist of any actual women who drink wine, even occasionally? And was it lost on the company that tequila can make a girl feel downright sexy too? Jack is for dancing, but Tequila holds all the wild cards, and is surely more profitable.
Nonetheless, the wines are actually pretty tasty, especially the pleasantly plump, softly fruity Chardonnay. It is refreshing, bright and round with golden delicious, apple, and peach notes, and has a clean, fresh finish. Pinot Grigio, Merlot, and a Syrah Rosé are also in the line. All are priced at $9.99, which is far less than an actual little black dress.
