What a journey you have taken to formal recognition, finally bursting onto the scene with great controversy and debate. Yet you have been a center attraction since the 1850's, residing at the base of Mt. Saint Helena with your uniform volcanic and low pH soils. With a unique southeastern exposure in a valley predominantly south in exposure your climes are mitigated from the marine air more frequent in the lower Napa Valley. Yet growers and vintners knew this and selected plantings best suited to your conditions with results that have become hallmark.
